About

Founded in May 2012, The Jesse A. Marcel Library (JAML) has served as a safe-space meeting place for those who are interested in the UFO and related phenomenon. For more than 75 years the social stigma (approaching a taboo) surrounding UFOs, although presently declining, has been a tremendous obstacle for citizens who have personally witnessed UFOs or encountered extraterrestrial beings and needed a safe space to discuss their experiences with others. The JAML has proudly filled that need for hundreds of people, some from as far away as Ireland, who have been curious and adventurous enough to explore the unknown with their like-minded fellow citizens.

The First UFO Whistleblower

Lt. Col. Jesse A. Marcel, Sr.

The day is soon coming when everyone will realize that we all owe this man, Lt. Col. Jesse A. Marcel, Sr., a sincere debt of gratitude. In February of 1978 he made the difficult decision break his US military oath of secrecy and reveal the details of his first-person involvement in the recovery of debris from an alien “flying saucer” that crashed in the desert lands of New Mexico near Roswell, NM in July 1947.

Marcel Sr.’s integrity and courage can still serve as an inspiration to present-day UFO whistleblowers! Today, UFO whistleblowers are now afforded extensive legal protections that have already been signed into law through 50 US Code SB3373b of the 2023 National Defense Authorization Act.

Whistleblowers! – PLEASE take advantage of this window of opportunity to disclose what you know about Roswell to Congress!

The grandfather of “UFOLOGY” Stanton Friedman

Marcel, Sr. made those revelations to UFO researcher Stanton Friedman who had heard rumors of Marcel’s involvement in the Roswell UFO crash recovery. Astutely, Friedman not only believed Marcel’s story, but also realized its extreme importance to the future of human civilization on Earth. Friedman was a master in the art of discernment and would confront debunkers, those he called “the noisy negativists”, at every turn and on any turf.

For the remainder of his adult life, Friedman would continue to pursue and attempt to publicize every known fact about “The Roswell Incident” that he could uncover. Friedman’s stalwart determination to bring the truth about Roswell to a world that was, by and large, unwilling to listen was unprecedented and simply heroic. Until his last breath he would never surrender.

Supporting His Father

Dr. Jesse A. Marcel, Jr. was 11 years old in July 1947 when, late one night, his father excitedly roused him from his bed to show him and his mother the debris from the crashed Roswell “flying saucer not of this Earth” he had brought to their home directly from the UFO debris field. Those were the words Marcel Sr. used – “a flying saucer not from this Earth”. Marcel Sr. told his son, Jesse Jr., to carefully inspect the materials he held in his hands because, he said, “you will never see anything like this again in your lifetime!” Today, in retrospect, we can know that no truer words were ever spoken. From that night onward the US military-industrial-intelligence complex (MIIC) has done all in its power to sequester away all debris that was recovered from the Roswell UFO crash site and malign the stories and reputations of anyone who would come forward to support the Marcel family’s testimony.

Why Believe the Marcel’s Story?

Firstly, because a ton of evidence that supports the Marcel family’s account has been uncovered by several renowned UFO researchers like Stanton Friedman, Don Schmitt, Thom Carey, David Rudiak, and Kevin Randle. Below are listed some books and websites that document their findings.

I never met Lt. Col. Jesse A. Marcel, Sr., but I knew his son, Dr. Jesse A. Marcel Jr., M.D., quite well for over 25 years. Throughout that time, we worked together at St. Peter’s Hospital in Helena, MT. I first met Dr. Marcel in July 1988 when I joined the medical staff at St. Peter’s while working as a board-certified anesthesiologist. In that capacity I worked with every surgeon at St. Peter’s but got to know Dr. Marcel better than most on both a personal as well as professional level. I can tell you that not only was Dr. Marcel always kind and considerate with me personally, but I always observed him to be similarly respectful of everyone he came into contact with at St. Peter’s – from the OR nurses to the surgical floor nurses to scrub techs and to janitors. Simply stated, he was always a nice person to be around. Having trained at Tulane University/Charity Hospital in New Orleans, his professional skills as an ENT surgeon were excellent.

I didn’t hear about Dr. Marcel’s personal involvement in “The Roswell UFO Incident” until I asked him about it, maybe a year after I first met him. Please note that. I had to ask him about it. While at home one evening I happened to watch a TV documentary about Roswell and, surprise, I saw an interview with him during that show. The next time I saw him I asked him about it, and over the years that I knew him we had several discussions about Roswell. He told me the same story I heard him tell in the documentary-nothing more, nothing less. His story never changed. I recall one time he had requested through the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) process a specific government document about the Roswell incident. He showed me the document he had received which had almost every line on it redacted (blacked out and unreadable). He was incensed by this, and he was always at a loss to explain why those in the Pentagon who were “in the know” about Roswell were so determined to keep the truth about Roswell away from the public.

One evening, probably around February of 2013, I asked Jesse and his wife Linda to come over to our place for supper. I had heard about an upcoming event being arranged by Steven Bassett’s Paradigm Research Group that was to take place that April at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. I intended to bring that opportunity to tell his story, called The Citizen Hearing on Disclosure, to Jesse’s attention. When I brought it up at supper, Jesse informed me he was already aware of the event and was already scheduled to participate as an eyewitness to the Roswell UFO Incident. He advised me that I should also attend the event (at my own expense), which I did. That event was a historical event in the years-long process of “UFO Disclosure” which, to this day (June 27, 2023) has not yet been fully resolved. However, a lot is currently happening today, and I feel certain we are much closer to finally hearing the official truth about Roswell than we were back then. Below you can hear what Dr. Marcel had to say at THe Citizen Hearing on Disclosure,

Jesse was a flight surgeon and a helicopter pilot with the Montana National Guard. In his 60’s he was deployed to the war in Iraq where he was housed in “The Green Zone”, very nearby one of those notorious burn pits. This likely explains why he returned from Iraq a changed man from the man I knew before his deployment. Jesse returned to Helena from his two tours of duty in Iraq with a rather severe case of PTSD and a neuropathy in both legs that required leg braces for him to walk without falling, although even with the braces he was unsteady on his feet. (One of the reasons I decided to go with him to Washington, D.C.). While conversing with Jesse at his home after his return from Iraq, a slamming screen door sent Jesse jumping to his feet. When I observed this response, I knew Jesse had suffered a great deal of psychological trauma from the constant shelling of the areas in Iraq where he was housed and worked. War does terrible things to even the most (previously) stable and well-adjusted people.

How the Jesse A. Marcel Library Came About

When I (Richard O’Connor, M.D.) observed Jesse’s physical and psychological condition after his return from Iraq I was concerned not only about his health, but also about the future loss of this man who’s story I considered to be so important to humanity’s future. I felt I needed to do something, but what? I’m not a government insider/whistleblower and I’ve never even seen a UFO.

So, I had this building available that I felt could be put to good use as both a “UFO library” and a place for local citizens to gather to learn about and discuss the UFO and possibly related phenomena. In 2012 there were no “safe spaces” for folks to unburden themselves and feel free to talk about their UFO experiences or their encounters with extraterrestrials.

I approached Jesse with the idea of using his and his father’s name in creating The Jesse A. Marcel Library and he gave me his permission to move forward with the project. Shown below is a photo of Jesse and me standing in front of the JAML just before it was opened to the public in May 2012. Little did we know then that Jesse would be gone from this world a little more than a year later. Dr. Jesse A. Marcel, Jr. passed away at his home on August 23, 2013, apparently from stumbling and hitting his head on a coffee table. He was a great man, a great physician, a great father, a great soldier/US military officer and, as importantly and like his father, he had the courage and the integrity to tell the world the truth about Roswell when nobody wanted to listen.

Knowing him as I did for as long as I did, I am 100% certain he would never have lied about what happened at Roswell. You can take that to the bank.

When Dr. Sean Kirkpatrick/AARO tell you, “UFOs are real but we don’t know what they are” they are, once again, gaslighting the American public while lying through their teeth!

Roswell still matters – a lot! For many decades now the US DoD and Intelligence Community (IC) have been employing the psychological techniques employed in counterintelligence to persuade both the American people and our elected representatives in Congress that Roswell did not involve the recovery of a crashed UFO of non-human origin. A common term for this type of counterintelligence is “gaslighting” – the practice of inducing cognitive dissonance in a person or group with the goal of making the individual(s) doubt, or even disbelieve, what they suspect or know to be true. We have all been victims of our own governments’ gaslighting efforts concerning Roswell for the entirety of our lives!

Some high-ranking officials within the DoD know exactly what UFOs are and have known this since The Roswell Incident of July1947. It is past time for our government to finally come clean about what actually happened at Roswell, tell the American people the truth, and get all of that behind us! We have a shared future with The Others to think about that we cannot engage in effectively without knowing all the facts!
